How to care for pothos
Light
Low to bright, indirect light. Variegated forms keep their color best in brighter spots.
Water
Water when the top 2–5 cm (1–2 in) of soil is dry. Leaves droop slightly when thirsty.
Humidity
Normal household humidity is fine.
Temperature
15–29 °C (60–85 °F).
Soil
Any well-draining indoor potting mix.
Fertilizer
Balanced liquid fertilizer monthly in spring and summer.
Common problems
- Long, bare stems
- Not enough light. Move it brighter and trim the vines to encourage bushier growth.
- Yellow leaves
- Most often overwatering. Let the soil dry out more between waterings.
- Loss of variegation
- Too little light.
Propagation
Very easy: root stem cuttings with a node in a glass of water.
